Kids Recreation Director

I was born and raised in the church. (This church, in fact. Shout out to all the Sunday school teachers and volunteers who put up with my shenanigans through the years!) But like a lot of church kids, it took a long time for my faith to become my faith. I don’t know that I ever had a light bulb, life changing moment so much as a long series of little bumps that pushed me in the right direction and helped build my faith. A mission trip here, a Godly mentor there, some late night conversations with a wise friend. I see God moving in amazing, big ways all the time but for me, it’s the little daily events that have and continue to shape me spiritually.

My favorite verse is Ecclesiastes 7:8, “The end of a matter is better than its beginning” because it is a reminder of what is to come. When things are tough, I’m reminded that there’s a better day around the corner. And when things are great, I’m reminded that even still, there will come a day when it’ll all be oh so much greater.

I came on staff at The Hills Church in August of 2008. I was toiling away in a difficult, frustrating job, trying desperately to stay close to recreation in some capacity, when this opportunity was presented to me. Having grown up at this church, coming back to work here to grow and develop a sports ministry was a dream come true. In my book, any time you can teach kids about Jesus and Dirk Nowitzki in the same day, you’re doing something right. My hope is that we will remain an open door to our community and that as a group, we’ll learn to love a little more like Jesus on a daily basis.
