Bailey Plake

Connections Minister

I grew up in a Preacher’s family in Fremont, Nebraska. I was born in Bedford, Texas but moved shortly after to be part of a church where my dad has been preaching ever since. Our church was small—my brothers and I would often joke that youth group was every night because it was just the four of us. These experiences, of helping my dad by setting up chairs for service, preparing communion, and hospital visits shaped me significantly. During college, I had several internships at churches around the globe that continued to teach me about leading, specifically students. I was excited to have to opportunity to intern at The Hills Church the summer after my first year of graduate school. I had an incredible experience and was hired full time as the Student Minister. It has been a privilege to serve on this team and I look forward to many years of helping students on their journey with Jesus. My favorite Bible verse is Psalm 16:5-8 which reads, “LORD, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance. I will praise the LORD, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” To me, these verses are a sweet reminder of a God who is constantly keeping me in mind; there is so much to praise Him for. He prepares the way for me; the boundary lines He places are for my benefit. The more I keep my eyes on Him, the more fully I can see the story He is writing and how my story fits.
