Equip: Building a Better Marriage

If we look at the culture around us—from social media to the latest romantic comedy—we see a number of competing ideas about marriage. Social media tells us love is perfect and picturesque, while romantic comedies tell us we’ll live happily ever after. It’s supposed to be easy, right?
Everyone wants their marriage to be fruitful and full of joy, but it’s a lot harder to get there than most people think. What does it take to build a godly marriage?
In this six-session series, based on a study by pastors Earl and Oneka Mclellan,  we will explore God’s blueprint for building a healthy marriage through trust, honesty, service, love, and God’s word.

The 24-7 onslaught of contemporary life—with its never-ending feed of global tragedies, demands for our attention, and pressures of work, family, and friends—has left us feeling ragged, wrung-out, and emptied. But if we have no margin in our lives, how do we find room to change anything? In this life-changing video Bible study, John Eldredge distills a lifetime of wisdom into five practical and ready-to-implement practices for putting your life back together.

What do you do when God’s timing seems questionable, His lack of intervention hurtful, and His promises doubtful? Life often looks so very different than we hoped or expected. Some events may simply catch us off guard for a moment, but others shatter us completely. We feel disappointed and disillusioned, and we quietly start to wonder about the reality of God’s goodness. Our disappointments can be the divine appointments our souls need to radically encounter God.

The Divine Conspiracy is a six-session video-based study that offers a timely and challenging call back to the true meaning of Christian discipleship. Based on the classic book by Dallas Willard, this course features conversations with Willard and John Ortberg that masterfully captures the core of Christ’s teachings from the Sermon on the Mount in a fresh way, revealing a revolutionary way to experience God…by knowing Him as an essential part of the here and now, rather than only as a part of the hereafter.

Name of Study – Good and Beautiful Life by James Bryan Smith

THE GOOD AND BEAUTIFUL LIFE is the second book in the Apprentice Series, which along with three other titles forms ‘a curriculum for Christlikeness’.

THE GOOD AND BEAUTIFUL LIFE introduces the reader to the kingdom of God and focuses on our inward character, dealing specifically with some of the most problematic vices: anger, lust, lying, worry, judging others, and so on. Following the Sermon on the Mount, this book looks at the narratives behind these character flaws and replaces them with Jesus’ narratives about life in the kingdom of God.

Name of Study – Chasing Vines by Beth Moore

God wants us to flourish. In fact, he delights in our flourishing. Life isn’t always fun, but in Christ it can always be fruitful.

In Chasing Vines, Beth shows us from Scripture how all of life’s concerns—the delights and the trials—matter to God. He uses all of it to help us flourish and be fruitful.

Looking through the lens of Christ’s transforming teaching in John 15, Beth gives us a panoramic view of biblical teachings on the Vine, vineyards, vine-dressing, and fruitfulness. Along the way you’ll discover why fruitfulness is so important to God—and how He can use anything that happens to us for His glory and our flourishing. Nothing is for nothing.
