What is
baptism?
Baptism is a public expression of your faith in Jesus. By being immersed in water, we identify with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection and celebrate the new life we have in Him. Baptism is a beautiful way of saying, “I belong to Jesus, and I want to follow Him.
why should i
be baptized?
As followers of Jesus, we choose to live by His example and do the things He asks of us. Jesus was baptized, and He calls us to be baptized too. In baptism, we respond to Jesus in faith, surrender our lives to Him, and begin a new life with Him.

Should I be baptized again?
If you were baptized before you personally chose to trust and surrender your life to Jesus, we encourage you to consider being baptized as your own expression of faith. If you were baptized as a believer but have since wandered from Jesus, you may not need to be baptized again—He invites you to return to Him in repentance and renewed surrender. If you’re unsure about your baptism, we’d love to talk with you and help you discern your next step.
How much do I need to know?
Baptism isn’t a test you have to pass or something you need to know everything about before taking that step. What matters is that you believe Jesus is the Son of God and are ready to surrender your life to Him. Baptism is the beginning of a lifelong journey of knowing Jesus and learning to live His way.
Should I wait to get my life together to be baptized?
No! Baptism isn’t something we do once we have everything figured out. We come to Jesus because we need His grace and the new life only He can give. If you are ready to trust Jesus and surrender your life to Him, you don’t need to wait until you have it all together.
Why does The Hills practice baptism by immersion?
The word “baptism” comes from a Greek word meaning “to immerse.” In the New Testament, we see people going down into the water to be baptized. Immersion also gives us a beautiful picture of being united with Jesus in His death, burial, and resurrection—going under the water represents our old life being buried, and coming out represents the new life we have in Christ. (Romans 6:3–4; Acts 8:36–38)
